Expectations for Student Debt Forgiveness Climb in Latest NY Fed Poll A survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reveals that Americans increasingly expect more federal student debt forgiveness, with the perceived likelihood rising to 39% in April from 28.7% in December. Expectations are particularly high among older Americans. Despite some debt relief measures under President Biden, including partial forgiveness for over 10% of borrowers, student loan repayments resumed last fall after a pandemic pause. Many borrowers are struggling, with one in six behind on payments. Rising interest rates on new student loans are likely to increase pressure on the Biden administration for further relief. « Previous Article Next Article » Share This Article Choose Your Platform: Facebook Twitter Google Plus Linkedin Related Posts Gold's Glittering Milestone: Surges Past $2,300 Amid Rate Cut Hopes READ MORE Gold Set for Weekly Dip as U.S. Inflation Fears Weigh on Market Sentiment READ MORE Morgan Stanley Predicts Continued Dominance of U.S. Dollar as Global Reserve Currency READ MORE China's Gold Demand Lags Behind Global Trends in August READ MORE Think Tank Expert Recommends Measures to Halt De-Dollarization READ MORE Add a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
