Expectations for Student Debt Forgiveness Climb in Latest NY Fed Poll A survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reveals that Americans increasingly expect more federal student debt forgiveness, with the perceived likelihood rising to 39% in April from 28.7% in December. Expectations are particularly high among older Americans. Despite some debt relief measures under President Biden, including partial forgiveness for over 10% of borrowers, student loan repayments resumed last fall after a pandemic pause. Many borrowers are struggling, with one in six behind on payments. Rising interest rates on new student loans are likely to increase pressure on the Biden administration for further relief. « Previous Article Next Article » Share This Article Choose Your Platform: Facebook Twitter Google Plus Linkedin Related Posts Potential Shift in Fed's Interest Rate Committee Dynamics in 2024 READ MORE Fed Chair Powell: Labor Market 'Fully Back in Balance' READ MORE Virtual Gold Rush: How RuneScape Became Venezuela's Economic Lifeline READ MORE The REAL Reason Costco & Walmart Are Selling GOLD & SILVER READ MORE Google Search for ‘Buy Gold’ Up 64% as Market Crashes READ MORE Add a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
